As I've previously posted about here I started a chess quilt for Charlie. This was his first request of me for a quilt. A year later he finally got it. :)
Of course I had to add some glitter and dazzle! ;)
And here is some closer detail on the chess pieces:
They all have pieces of Velcro attached to them, and each square has a piece of Velcro on it as well, so you can play an actual game of chess on it while it's hanging on the wall.
Ah, life is good! Getting back in the saddle is making me feel so great! It's amazing how happy and content sewing makes me!
Yesterday I started and finished my first baby quilt top of the set I'm making to donate to the police for domestic abuse victims. I've been wanting to do this for a long time, so I'm happy I finally got started on them.

And it's lovely flannel too. I adore flannel, so soft and cozy. I hope they will be able to give comfort to those who need it most!
And here is also a picture of the chess quilt I'm making Charlie. Now the question is whether or not I should put a border around it or not. Hmmm.
Now I have to figure out how to make chess figures to put on it. That's going to be tricky!

This has been a very hard week and a half for me! My sewing machine broke last week on Thursday. I had to take it in to get it repaired. I won't hear back about it's progress until sometime next week.
Buuut I have the best fiancé ever! He ordered me a new machine. So today I could finally sew a few blocks together for one of my baby quilts. It felt so good! I'm really glad I got to sew today, even if it was only a little bit.
Tomorrow though I have the whole day off from school, so I can sew until I have to go to work. I'm very excited about that!

My sewing machine broke Thursday night and I've been in agony!!! This has really shown me how involved I am in sewing. I've realized that there isn't a day I don't think about sewing, quilting and what projects I'm working on, or want to be working on.
I got a Joann's gift card from one of my lovely coworkers for Christmas. On Wednesday I finally went there and picked a book on a whim. What a lucky whim that was! I am in love with this book. 100 small things to make. I want to do almost everything in the book. The projects will make fabulous gifts!

But no sewing machine, sooooob!!! I do have an appointment to get it fixed on Monday. It just seems so far away.

So now I can finally upload pictures of the pillows I made my cousin and her fiancé for Christmas. And here are two out of three. I forgot to take a picture of the last one, but it was kind of unique anyway.

Here are also some close up pictures of the two parter quilts I made my family. The cream colored one (on the bottom) is for my parents, the brown one is for my older sister and her boyfriend.
Now I know how all of Santa's slaves, er, hem, cough I mean elves, feel. I have been sewing like a mad woman. I scrambled like crazy to get the two quilts done in time for thanksgiving. And then I thought I could finally relax and sew just for fun, but then I got my older sisters BQ2 quilttop minus the borders assembled so fast that it actually seems remotely possible to finish it in time to get mailed to Germany. So of course the pressure is on!

I have also made my cousin and her fiancé Christmas gifts, but more details and pictures will have to wait a week until after we've visited with them and exchanged gifts. :)
So long for now. One more hour till I can go home and put my border on the quilt.
