I've been a slacker, but I'll be better! Promise!

So yesterday I made the lamest heart ever (07/29/11 - 44)! I used two pieces of dried mango because I had forgotten about it and was desperate to go to bed, to get at least 4.5 hours of sleep before having to go to work again. So here it is, our number 44:

Because that heart is so lame, I made two today, another lame one, and one I actually put effort into.

I'm famous for hurting myself, so we have a neosporin heart. This time it wasn't even my fault. The idiot cat at work was attempting to catch a fly, leapt blindly into space and gouged my leg from my knee halfway to my ankle in landing.

And here is my cooler heart made with a file folder, I cut pieces out with an exacto knife, and then filled in the spots on the inside of it with a pink sparkly pen:

Mucho pictures due to out of town vacation

So I was out of town for a few days and didn't have any internet access, so I'm going to catch up and post pictures 37 through 43, from July 23rd to July 28th. I took my fiance come to see his family for his birthday and did lots of fun things, like floating the river etc, but now it's back to hearts. :)

July 23rd - Heart number 37:

This cool heart was Charlie's idea. We also made a heart with each of us making up one side of the heart, but we didn't have anybody who could take the picture.
And in our heart is our doggie. :)

July 24th - Heart number 38:
Another one of those desperation hearts. But then again I do heart these flipyfloppies, the did make our Bend trip so much better for me. :)

July 25th - Heart number 39:
This is my magic quilt.

It is so much more than a mere quilt! ^^

July 26th - Heart number 40:
Beef stroganoff is Charlie's favorite meal, so his mom made it for his pre-birthday meal. I had buttered noodles instead (mean, angry onions that want to kill me).

July 27th - Heart number 41:
After taking my shower in preparation of Charlie's birthday grill party at his grandparents, I saw the fogged up mirror and thought of all the times we wrote on the mirrors when we were kids.

July 28th - Heart number 42:
We just got back from Bend, and I was exhausted from all the driving. As I was uploading all the pictures from my camera to my computer, I saw this purple paper bag from The Cotton Patch my fingers automatically reached for it and crumpled it into a heart.

So here I am caught up again. And hopefully I will be able to post every day again since I'm not planing on being away till September. :)

July 21st (Heart 35)

So on the 19th I posted the drawing of the charm bracelet laid out in a heart shape. And so for today I took the charm bracelet/watch that my older sister Natasha gave me, which was the inspiration for the drawing, and arranged it like a heart. You might recognize some of the charms. Though the watch charm I copied off of it is hardly recognizable as a watch in the drawing. But anyway, here it is:

There's the high heel. :)

Heartfelt Gifts

I might have mentioned how many fabulous and kind people I have in my life here! I am forever grateful to the people who make life worth living and have finally made me feel like I'm at home here in Oregon! It's helping me realize how much I love living here.
There are some really special people here! Lauren has changed my life in so many different ways! Thanks to her I feel at home when I'm at The Cotton Patch. Some of the best people work there. Debbi has taken me under her wing and showered me with not only fabric but also fun heart themed gifts.

Here is a picnic basket she decided to give to me rather than sell it at the quilters swap meet:
At the moment I'm actually using it to store fabric.

Lauren decided that like in pimp my ride I needed to have a heart thing in my heart thing, since she had heard that I liked hearts! ^^ yeah, not nearly as funny, if you don't know pimp my ride. ^^
This is one of the funniest and cutest heart fabrics. I love it so much I'm not sure when to use it, just in case that occasion wasn't special enough...

Debbi is famous for the beautiful pincushions she makes and sells at The Cotton Patch. She made this beautiful heart in heart pincushion specially for me :) squeee! And it's even more special, because it's a brand new kind of pincushion, she told me she's never made one like this before. I'm not going to be conceited and think I'm inspiring her to step out of her comfort zone, I'm just going to happily sit here looking at the pincushion and poke it with needles ^^.

So, I guess what this post is all about is saying thank you to all the people that support me and give me heart gifts. ^^ Not that I don't like you just as much if you haven't given me a heart gift. :D But then again you'd have to really work hard to get up to Lauren's level anyway... Hehe.

June 20th - Sunscreen Heart (34)

Today has been a very long day for me (work from 8 am to 5:15 and again from 6 pm to 11 pm and about one and a half hours of driving). I put my computer to sleep in the hopes of my lack of creating hearts today evading Charlie's attention. I didn't think he would let me get away with the hearts I doodled on the page numbers of my OIS handbook. >_< But then I decided he was right and I glanced at the creams from Bath & Body Works that Debbie had so generously given me. It made me think of those sunscreen commercials I used to see in Germany where they drew the sun on people's backs with sunscreen.
Charlie didn't complain about the following backrub he got to distribute the cream once I took the pictures.

So here is my Hawaii Coconut Body Lotion heart on Charlie's back:

And doesn't it look like he has an arrow shaped scar to the right of the heart? I had never noticed this before. If I had I would have integrated it into the heart to make a cliche 'arrow through the heart' rendition. ^^

And per usual also from a slightly different angle:

July 19th - 33rd Heart

Originally I made this post yesterday, but then forgot I had made it and posted the wax hearts. So since I made those wax hearts well after midnight, and I can count them for the 19th (at least in my head), I've decided to use the heart I made in one of my work classes yesterday for today's post.
I love charm bracelets. I was messing around with a gold sharpie and decided to make a gold chain that looked like a heart, once I had done that, I decided it should have a pendant, and then from there it evolved into a picture of a charm bracelet that has been laid out in a heart shape.
Anyway, look for yourself:

July 16th - 30th Heart

Today's heart was a suggestion from my wonderful fiance Charlie and in honor of Lauren Number One and our quilting day tomorrow. :)

Always at work - Heart 29

This is my always at work heart. My boyfriend is so awesome. I sure love him.

14th of July - My 28th Heart

This is a heart I've been meaning to do for a while. An ice heart. Originally the idea was to fill up a water balloon and tie it up with a rubber band to get the indentation for the top. This did not work. The rubber bands kept slipping and falling off. So I decided I would just freeze the whole balloon and then melt it into a heart shape. I tried that, but it took forever, so I gave up on that too. So the final result is achieved by melting with a lighter, matches and chipping away at it with a steak knife:

Yes, this is my fabulous ironing board as the surface. ^^ And here it is with flash:

July 11th - 25th Heart

Books are some of the things I love most, so I decided  to make a heart out of a book.I doubt this will be the last heart made with books, but it is my first one :) So here is another use for my dear friend Daisy Dalrymple:

24th Heart :)

Today's heart is one of those lets do a super quickie one because I decided to spend my whole day off quilting. Whoops. But honestly I'm actually pretty happy with my quilt blocks though. :) I got them all done today, yay. So I will add a picture of what I actually spent most of my creativity on today.

But first off, here is my heart:

Heart 23, July 9th

Today's heart was made with oil pastels. I've never worked with them before, so it was kind of weird, and messy. Crumbs kept getting everywhere and melting on the paper, so I ended up having to do a background color around the heart. All of these are a blend of at least 3 different colors, except for the wing(s) of course. I used, sienna, orange red, golden ochre and lemon yellow on the heart and sky-blue, green, blue, white and then sky blue again. The heart was all done with the crayon like oil pastel sticks, and the green-blueish background was blended with my fingers. Came off my hands quicker than I expected with soap and hot water.
So without further ado, here is todays heart, even posted before midnight and everything... :)

Au naturel:

July 8th, Heart 22

Today has been one of the harder days, one of those days where things are blah and it seems like something is just missing. I could find no motivation or inspiration for my hearts. In desperation I turned to Facebook, where I got a few suggestions. Thanks Laurens!!! This heart has been made out of aluminum foil, as suggested by Lauren Blazek.
I liked the overlighted versions of the pictures better, so they are the ones being posted. If anyone is interested in any of the non-flash pictures and speaks up, I will add pictures of them too.
So without further ado here they are:

Number 21 = 3 whole weeks

For my twentyfirsth heart I decided to finally go get some beading wire because we keep not getting any because we always think we have some. So here is my pretty pink bead heart:

Heart Numer 20

While scanning todays heart it looks like it has glitter all over it from when I scanned my glitter heart. Oops.

June 5th, my 19th Heart

Today I also thought of hearts that can be broken. Sometimes the scars never go away. Heartache

And sometimes they never grow back together right, like with bones that don't set right.

Carelessly thrown away:

Heart Number 18, Happy 4th of July

Here is my 18th heart. This is a really cool technique my little sister came up with. But don't worry, I okayed stealing it from her. :)
A heart made of hearts. And unbelievably enough, this post isn't around midnight. It's amazing what you can do when you get off work at 7 am! :) So since I actually had time to work on it, I decided to do a heart that would be a bit more time intensive.
So here it is, and happy 4th of July to everyone!

Here is the picture my sister made that gave me the idea. This is her self-portrait.

July 3rd - 17th Heart

Today I'm working a double, so I'm attempting to make this blog post on my phone. Let's see how it works out.
When I first started with this blog I tried a new medium every time. And I've realized now, that I've been doing more arranging than anything else. I've just looked around to see what I have to work with, and made a heart out of it. Some days I practically have to force myself to create something, and on other days I just look at something, like today, and inspiration strikes and I can already see the heart in my eyes. Hopefully soon my work schedule will calm down, and I'll have more time to do more elaborate hearts!

July 2nd - Heart number 16

I decided nail polish can be art too. Not that many of my hearts are art. It's a bit wonky, and a bit last minute, but I hope I will be forgiven after two doubles in two days and not much time off to sleep in-between.
So here is my crooked heart:

EEEW! My fingers look like worms. :D
